Hey there,
As berry season comes to a close here in Canada, I started remembering my days of picking berries as a kid. On very hot summer days, and in the south, that is HOT and did I mention HUMID! Anyway… my mom and dad would load the 6 of us kids up in the back of my dad’s pick up and off we would go to a meadow by my grandpa Barney’s log cabin to pick blackberries. My mom, to this day shames me each year with the amount of berries she picks compared to my meager portions… this is song about that childhood memory… it was written by myself, Barry Dean (one of my favorite writers who wrote God’s Will by Martina McBride) and Don Poythress who is a stunningly great country writer.
This is the worktape recording we did in Barry’s little studio in his den right after we had written it.
Hope you enjoy:-)
Cindy

I can only dream and hope of writing songs like this one day. I felt like I was there picking them with your family. Just amazing. Please put it on the next album.
God bless you and yours.
Pretty song! I bet you miss your dad when thinking about these days. He was (and still is) a wonderful influence in your life.
Love it! Nothing better than wonderful memories for making a great song. Just love your “organic” songs. Feels like real life.
Love it! You voice calms my soul.
Many smoking hot days spent picking berries.
