Who she is…
Cindy Morgan… singer/songwriter, wife, and mother of two beautiful girls.
Cindy’s Journey…
This native Tennessean began her journey in a musical family- her mother a songwriter and gospel singer who played the piano. Her dad, a VW mechanic by day whose true love was in writing songs and playing guitar was rich soil for her to grow in as a writer. Throughout her musical journey, starting at Word Records barely out of high school, her true passion remains to be the passion for songs and how they connect with a listener.
New Project…(Hymns: Some Glad Morning)
When talking to Cindy about “Some Glad Morning”, you quickly get the feeling that this is a project dear to her. She states…“As I approached how to interpret the hymns on this record, I definitely wanted to maintain the original spirit of each song but I also wanted to make them my own—interpreting them the way I hear them in my head and my heart. “I’ll Fly Away” for instance is still upbeat but a little more on the moody/quirky side of happy. “Just As I Am” has always seemed like such an important song in terms of what it has defined over the years in churches… the song that brought people to make the all important journey down the aisle from country churches and even stadiums listening to George Beverly Shea.”
Cindy’s Approach…(Hymns: Some Glad Morning)
“For me, the production of this record would be like a really great and simple recipe… only a few ingredients but each ingredient has to be just right. I love the earthy sounds of the acoustic piano, because there were no baby-grands in my childhood. I also love the mixture of that with an ambient slide guitar and harmonica thanks to Jason Goforth (he is awesome!), which brings something very old into a very modern, dreamlike state. The cello played by my sweet friend Cara Slaybaugh is so beautiful and haunting and adds a bit of sadness and depth in all the right places. Stephen Leiweke added some oh just right acoustic Guitar and Chris Donohue played some fine and not so traditional upright bass. Other than that…family harmony…I remember being about 10 years old, singing with my mom and my sister Sam—we loved to sing in three-part harmony. Though it wasn’t possible to have them sing on the record (that would have been so cool though) I tried to do the parts that I thought they would have and maybe a few more unorthodox ones that they might not have… but harmony is definitely a big part of this record.”
New Songs…(Hymns: Some Glad Morning)
“There are a handful of new songs on the project. “Worry”, (which I co-wrote with my good friend J Bose) is a song about something that is an ongoing struggle for me. I love what Phil Madeira did on this song… love the slide!”
Cindy’s thoughts on “Praise the King”—a song she recorded and performed on tour this past Christmas with 4-time 2010 Dove nominee Travis Cottrell.
”I have loved hearing other people sing this song back to me in concerts. It was written years ago on Easter morning…such a gift from God. Also, it was the last song I played for my dad over the phone (I used to always play new songs over the phone to my dad to get his thoughts) before he died.”

A note from Cindy-
“I am just so glad to be a part of the music community. To make music, write songs and hopefully, ultimately, encourage someone else with music. It is the supernatural power of notes and words to reach someone where they live.”
