Note From Cindy:I am so happy on this sunny/snowy morning to write to you about something near to my heart that has long been in planning. A record of old songs heard through many generations, at river banks, wooden and padded pews, cathedral halls and hospital rooms. Down through the years I find it so telling, the songs that you choose to sing at the most gravitas moments of life. I think these songs are largely that for me. Sometimes offered from a new perspective, and a few new songs that are done in the old way. I chose not to dig up obscure songs (although, I always find it interesting that some songs, very familiar to some are unknown to others) I just did the songs that have stayed with me and helped me survive through my life, with the music that I hear in my head and have brought with me from my childhood. From upright piano, dobro to cello….keeping it simple, so as not to crowd the spirit of each song. I have attempted to record these songs with the reverence they deserve but sometimes adding my own point of view that some may find irreverent. If that is the case, then please forgive me. I guess it is the risk of the arts to present things as you feel moved to. I pray that these take you back to good memories and create a few new ones and possibly mark time, for such a time is this.
